Wizard Wrock

Some friends of mine from the Ministry of Magic [MoM] were in town doing a show with another friend, Alex of the Remus Lupins, down in Santa Monica at Whimsic Alley. It was a small show, but a lot of fun.

After the show some of us went to a Mexican food restaurant that looked like the Regal Beagle from Three's Company. There I drew two Ravenclaws on the place mat. It was fun :D

POLARIZORD!

I was commissioned by my buddy Phil and his roomy Jimmy to draw a character they came up with that was inspired by both Phil's hair and Jimmy's excessive knowledge of optics :D Thus Polarizord was born! He has a polarizing power to reduce glare! Some claim all monster-type creatures should be polarized, but others aren't so impressed by him.

Church Notes | 3rd Wednesday March

It was a powerful night of prayer and worship. I really needed that. I have been having a really rough couple of weeks. I needed this refreshment of the Holy Spirit like nothing else.

He Knows his Roots...

I just finished the Album art for Matt Maggiacomo latest album, Demons at the Helm. I had a lot of fun doing this for Matt, and he has really stepped it up for this album. If you liked his past workings as The Whomping Willows you have to hear this one. It's quite brilliant. Go Matt!

Here is a preview of the album.
(buy it)

Nintendo

The other day I was surfing TenNapel.com, a forum I used to be quite active in, and I came across a thread where people drew classic video game characters. I was going to draw a lot of characters, but then I didn't. :P I just drew these guys :D

Church Notes | 3/16/09

Not much here other than that Christ is the key. He is the only thing that can unlock your true purpose in life. And I need to remind myself that I can sacrifice certain things in my life and submit them to Christ's timing, theses small sacrifices are nothing in comparison to His sacrifice for the world, for you, and for me.

Chain Reaction

I went to my first hardcore show. It was pretty cool. A lot of young kids there, I didn't really expect that. The funny thing was that I ran into one of my students there. It was cool seeing him out side of the class room, he was acting like a little "jerk". All because I couldn't do anything because I wasn't his teacher there. But it was all cool.

Good Bye Adoree Manor

A week ago I said goodbye to Adoree Manor. It treated me well! So long Ian, and old roomie from the past Ryan. We has some good times there with Lost Night, Meng Tuesdays, WoW TCGing, and other shenanigans. Here are a few pics I took a while ago. I am pretty sure they are before Ryan moved out.

One thing I wont miss is that obnoxious Reindeer down the street off of Burgess and Bridgewood. It is a horrible pre-Christmas decoration of a little wooden reindeer cutout with a countdown counting the days until Christmas. COME ON PEOPLE! IT'S ONLY MARCH! Now I love Christmas as much as the next guy (probably a little more than the average guy) and but this is ridiculous. Lets keep Christmas special by keeping it in context.

People who use the 91 get ready for some construction and traffic. Where ever I move the Freeway near me tends to go under some sort of construction and then lasts until I move away. When I was going to CSUF the 57 was und]er construction for 5 years! Then I move to La Mirada and need to take the 5 to and from work then guess what, the 5 is under construction. Now that I am out of there I am pretty sure the construction off of Beach and the 5 is all done. Hopefully this move will break the trend.

Dinner Doodle

I had a good dinner with some great friends. Thanks guys I love you all :)
I did this doodle on a napkin after we ate, which is a good thing. If I had drawn it before the meal I doubt it would have survived the onslaught. I liked it, so I scanned it, then I thought it would be fun to color it.

So I did :B

Church Notes | Medusa

I didn't know what to draw during church so I drew medusa. It didn't have anything to do with the subject at hand. I could probably come up with some convoluted tie-in on how when the church works against itself it acts like a snake and stifles our movement and growth, much like being turned to stone, but I wouldn't do that.

Doodleing Works!!!

Ha ha I knew it! Please read the linked article!! Thank you Shane!

(I did not draw this, this image is from the linked article.)
Doodling Increases Focus and Recall

It turns out that your daydreaming doodles of infinite awesomeness not only help with long meetings, but can also help you remember what goes on during the meeting.

In a study, scientists asked subjects to recall what they'd just heard in recordings—with some having doodled throughout, others not. The doodlers demonstrated significantly higher recall than the non-doodlers.

Church Notes | Passover

I had some fun drawing this angle of death. For some reason I wanted it to be a woman. Not sexist, just full-circleish. We come into this world through a woman, i though it was somewhat poetic.

I need to draw more. My sketching is getting quite stale. : /
